Wendy Soliday Wsoliday@aol.com www.wendysoliday.com Wendy Soliday began drawing daily, and obsessively , a few years ago. She then explored watercolors, pastels, and, most recently, oils. She spends hours daily, quietly observing and painting the natural world. In 2005 she quit her day job to be come a professional artist. She has exhibited her paintings in competitive national shows, and has received numerous awards. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in New England. Presently, she is represented by the Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery, in Stowe, VT., and in the Gallery at Hague Creek, in New York. She is the President of the Vermont Pastel Society. She paints what she loves; fields, farms, forests, and vulnerable untouched landscapes. She prefers pastels, which allow her to paint quickly and spontaneously. Their fragility can render the textures of silky summer fields or jagged winter twigs. Her watercolors are more planned, with realistic details and clear washes. |
