I have been a studio artist for about 25 years, first as a ceramist living in Southern VT.  In 200q I began painting in oils and pastels, after attending a graduate program at Bennington College.  I received a BFA in Ceramics from Maine College of Art in 1977, and a MAT from Bennington College in 2003.

In June of 2007 I moved to Isle La Motte, and began painting full time.  I have had solo exhibitions in North Bennington, South Hero, Isle La Motte, Cambridge, NY, and have participated in group shows at the Bryan Memorial Gallery, in Jeffersonville, and the Southern VT Art Center, in Manchester, VT.  In Dec. of 2008 I exhibited paintings in Burlington's First Friday Art Walk, with a show at the Tribeca Clothing.

I work in oil and pastel, painting the local landscapes in and around the Champlain Islands.  In warmer months, I paint outdoors, in winter I use reference photos and small studies done in summer, to compose paintings.   I am inspired by scenes that have become familiar to me from long walks, or drives, a record of my daily travels.  I love the way the lake seems to reflect light in the islands, illuminating the colors of the landscape.  In my paintings, I try to convey the moods and undertones of color that I see in the scene before me.  Painting is a transformative process for me, melding my inner imagination and emotion with the reality before me in the natural world.
