Education - Lynn earned a Bachelor of Arts from Notre
Dame College and a Master of Education degree from the College of New
Jersey. She received additional art training at the Cleveland Institute
of Art.
Artist - Although versed in several different
mediums including acrylic, watercolor, and photography, acrylic is
Lynn’s medium of choice. Her style is contemporary, with subject matter
that reflects the world of nature as it comes in concert with the female
figure. A series of expressive bodyscapes has been at the core of her
paintings. More recently, these paintings have been complemented by a
series of clean landscapes of summers on Cape Cod. Lynn is also a
creative photographer, capturing Vermont landscapes, Provincetown
seascapes, and the characters of Carnival Week.
Educator - As an educator, Lynn strives to enrich the lives
of students by opening the door to a lifetime of aesthetic enjoyment,
intellectual stimulation and creative inspiration. Lynn has taught a
variety of Art courses since 1999 at the Community College of Vermont in
Newport, and provides art instruction at the Elizabeth Taylor Hatton
Elementary School in Morgan. A Vermont State Certified Art Educator and
Guidance Counselor, she retired from full-time Guidance in 2003 to
devote more time to her painting.
Writer - Lynn co-wrote and illustrated a collection of poems
with Max Ellison entitled “Double Take” (1973). Lynn has also provided
lyrics and album cover designs for several CD’s in collaboration with
singer-songwriter Emily Nyman.
Exhibits - Lynn has exhibited in several group shows
including “For Arts Sake” in Stowe sponsored by the Helen Day Art
Center, the Catamount Arts Digital Photography Exhibit, The Women’s Arts
Festival (Fairlee VT.), and several local shows where her work has been
well received, earning People’s Choice and Best in Show Awards. In April
2006, Lynn had her first solo exhibit at the Catamount Arts Center in
St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Entitled “Past and Present”, this show was a
collection of acrylic paintings produced during the past decade. In July
of 2006, Lynn’s female bodyscapes provided the perfect complement for
“Hot flashes”, a QNEK theater production. In November 2006, Lynn had a
solo exhibit at the Newport Natural Foods Gallery. Featuring acrylic
paintings and photography, this exhibit included a sampling of
Provincetown Carnival photos. In May 2007, Lynn displayed her work at
the Human Rights Campaign-sponsored Equality Forum in Philadelphia.
