MARY KRAUSE
Art has always been the passion that drives my life. I painted in oils as a child, then, in high school, my art major led me to drawing. Art was soon put on a "back-burner" to raise three children. In 1988 I was inspired to again pursue my passion. While taking drawing classes at Moorpark Community College, I was selected to apprentice for Gaye Lynn Laguire, an accomplished California portrait and landscape artist. During this time I learned how to paint in water color, and established my own style. After a two year apprenticeship, I pulled up stakes and moved with my family to Vermont. I have recently picked up my oil pallet again, because there are landscape paintings around every bend. The light a color in the ever-changing Vermont hills and skies give me endless inspiration for paintings, and I can capture this light more effectively in oils. |
