Having spent many years as a jewelry designer, my
transition to watercolor painting has been an exciting challenge. Taking
courses and workshops with both local and nationally prominent artists,
I have gradually developed the skills I need. Recently, I discovered
real joy in creating abstract paintings. For me, the creation of
something totally original gives great satisfaction, and best utilizes
my basic talent as a designer.
Inspiration for my work comes primarily from nature. Much of my
work has an organic feel, and I usually let the painting evolve by
allowing colors to blend, taking full advantage of the spontaneity of
watercolors. I try to create depth of color and develop an interesting
design. I like to project an atmosphere of mystery, sometimes a touch of
realism. I prefer to leave it to you, the viewer, to interpret and
hopefully find it stimulating and enjoyable.
I use professional grade artists paints on 140lb or 300lb
watercolor paper or canvas. On occasion, I combine acrylics if it
achieves the desired results. I hope you enjoy my work as much as
I have enjoyed creating it |
