                                          DEBORAH COCCOLI

I've been interested in painting since my school days on Long Island.  I started painting regularly a couple of years ago, working with acrylics on canvas.  I have a background in art education, with a degree to teach art, earned from Johnson State College.

I took my first art class at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, while in junior high school, continued with drawing classes at the Art Student's League in NYC, and college studies, with a major in Fine Arts, at Southern Connecticut State University.

My work has been shown at Sweet Nothings in St. Albans, as well as a solo show at Copley Woodlands in Stowe, and Bees Knees in Morrisville.  I participated in the 2005 South End Art Hop in Burlington, VT., a couple of NVAA group shows in the supper of 2006, and I was invited to participate in the Shelburne Art Center's "Raise a Cup, Kitchen Art" show in March 2007.

I paint local landscapes as well as still life subjects and animals, the minutiae of my daily living.  I'm a bike rider and a runner and constantly view my routes with an eye toward scenes to paint.  I grew up in suburban New York, and since moving to Vermont in 1971 I  have soaked up the gorgeous landscape that I'm so privileged to live in.  I attempt to capture the joy I feel being in this beautiful environment.
