      Charles Woodard is a professional landscape and figurative painter from Calais, Vermont, working in pastel, oil and charcoal.  He says, "I have spent much of my life as a naturalist as well as an artist.  If you are an habitual observer, as I am, they go well together, each affording a different interpretive perspective.  I think my paintings are about "The Quiet".  The Quiet are those moments when the subjects of a place can rest in the assemblies they've made together, consequences of interacting and the making of some whole, a habitat conditioned by each other's presence".
